Met at my place - Eltham - Hurstbridge - Kinglake - Toolangi - Myer Creek Rd - Healesville - Black Spur - Marysville - Reefton Spur - Warburton - Mt Evelyn
Yay, its been ages since I've got on the bike too many other things to do and the weather has been a bit iffy on the weekends. Convinced Neil to take his new toy 2000 vfr "Lara" for a ride. 3 weeks old to him. Finally got on the road, Carlo needed huge tempting, coersing and coaxing to get started. Definitely in need of 16K service.
We headed through the backroads to Kinglake, and then over to Healesville. Cause of our late start had lunch here in a really yummy cafe, just opposite the town hall/post office in Healesville.
After lunch headed over the race track of the Black Spur into Marysville, then continued across Reefton Spur. Both Neil and I were getting a little to cocky and then next thing I know theres Neil and Lara, sliding down the road, I'm trying not to run either of them down. And so the result was sore Lara and Neil's hurt pride. Check out the photo's.

Aprilia Club ride - 4 April 2004 Travelled: 457kms
Met at Cranbourne – Lang Lang - Leongatha - Miraboo North - Trafalgar - Noojee - Yarra Junction - Healesville - Myers Rd - Kinglake - Eltham
Big club ride, I was happy to sit near the back and follow the faster bikes. I realised this trip why I don't quite keep up - something to do with the amount of cc's Carlo has to these other bikes. he he...
Was a lovely day for a long ride. Enjoyed lunch at Mirboo Nth Brewery and was introduced to alot of fine twisting roads. Still love the road beside Blue Rock dam from Trafalgar to Noojee.
Trip report can be found in the Club events calender.

3 April 2004 Travelled: 193kms
Mt Evelyn – Warburton Rover Chalet – Donna Buang Spur - Clegg Rd
Working bee with Happy Valley BP Guild at Warburton Rover Chalet and being such a georgous day had to take the bike. Finish up about 4pm and rode home over Donna Buang along the coach road.

25 March 2004 Travelled: 130kms
Eltham – Yarra Glen – Healesville – Mt Evelyn
Needed to get out of the house and so went for an afternoon ride. Checked out the road called old Healesville Road before Chum creek. Turned out to be a rolly road to Yarra Glen, Shall have to use this one in future. Choofed along the Woori Yallock Rd from Healesville to mum and dads for a cuppa then headed home. New tank bag fits well and worked a treat.

Aprilia Clube ride - 14 March 2004 Travelled: 331kms
Lilydale – Yarra Glen – up Chum Creek Rd down Myers Rd – Black Spur – Marysville - Acheron Way - Yellingbo – Mt Evelyn
This was the in between ride, cause the next long ride was too far away. This trip only 5 bikes, and smaller group. Black Spur has just reopened after being resurfaced and all except for on 300m stretch the road is like a race track. Sheesh the Spur is going to see alot of bikes onit. By the time got to Marysville for lunch the lads were grinning ear to ear with the condition of the Spur road. I left them here and took the Acheron way to home, I do love the valley stretch very much.
Trip report can be found in the Club events calender.

late Feb 2004 Travelled: 258kms
Mt Evelyn – Warburton – Mt Donna Buang summit – Coach Rd to Healesville, Myer Rd to Mt St Leonard - Murrundindi cascades - Glenburn - Kinglake - Eltham
Dad and the bikes, Toolangi Forestout with dad and decided to explore some forest roads on the otherside of Healesville. First went up to summit of Donna Buang, climbed the fire tower. Headed across to Mt St Leonards and rode gravel road to Murrindindi cascades. Lovely clearings and great picnic areas. Plenty of gravel roads, which surprisingly had quite a few cars on.

Aprilia Club ride - 22 February 2004 Travelled: 335kms
Met at Mill Park – Kinglake – Glenburn to Yea. Molesworth - Alexandra to Buxton, over the Reefton Spur - Warburton
Vic. Aprilia Club first ever ride. Happened to be at Bike Barn and Sue put me onto the Aprilia Club, just starting up. Though I'd give it a go. Was a bit nervous when I turned up and all the other bikes were ROAD bike, fast and sleek. Poor Carlo and I were a little out of our breed, but still an Aprilia. The ride details can be found in the Club events calender.
For me it was an exillarating day, lots of speed, couple new roads and actually managed to scrape the pegs both sides only the Reefton Spur - much to my surprise! I don't think I stopped grinning for days.

24 January 2004 Travelled: 426kms
Down to Surfmoot, Anglesea – Great Ocean Road to Lorne - overland via Forrest to Geelong and home
Zoomed down the freeway to Geelong and onto Anglesea to Surfmoot (Rover event). Carried tent. Camped overnight and was up at dawn for investiture - Dan and Gordon. Headed out mid morning, didn't enjoy GOR, to many tourists. Once got to Lorne had lunch and decided to go overland via Forrest back to Geelong and Melbourne. Excellent ride up the hill into Forrest, no cars and could go my own steady pace.

Snowy Mountain road trip 26 Dec 2003 - 3 Jan 2004 Travelled: 3106kms
Wagga Wagga – Tumut - Jindabyne - Bright - Corryong – Cooma – Gundagi
On the road with Jase & Tracey, his Dominator.
Christmas eve - well it was an eventful leaving of Melbourne, Christmas night, the night before I was to head out of Melbourne. Carlo had a flat rear tyre. Thank you dad for making the journey down to repair the tyre.
Day 1 - packed and headed out to the Hume. I wanted to check the tyre still had air, and here the troubles started. The first service station I discovered that the air pump after using it, that the darn machine was broken! And the tyre had little air, the next station I couldn't get the fitting on. arrrhhh - eventually I got the tyre checked and found that the air was down to 9psi and now I was unsure if it was the faulty air or was it the repair to the bike. So the ride to Wagga was a little stressful, checking the tyre every hour or so. Got to Wagga no problems, hot - no problems and waited for Jase to arrive. He came in 2 hours later, extremely hot and tired. It was fantastic to see him again and to be on a bike trip again.
Day 2 - On the road again, off to Tumut, a short day, needed after yesterday and time to tiki tour Tumut.
Day 3 - into the hills we head. First stop the caves, lovely and cool. Onto Kiandra, across the range to place. It was here the first signs of last years bush fires, much more devestating than I was expecting. No tree regrowth only ground level new growth, quite devestating. Onwards through the twisties to Jindabyne. Jase and I were pushing each other along and not long before alkdfj, nearly came a cropper, took the left-hand bend a bit tight and ended in the gutter. Heart in my throat, stomach all tied up, I hung on and somehow got myself out back on the road. How I did that no idea, but it did slow me down for the rest of the day. Accomodation was a bit tricky caravan parks a little full, but were steered to a bike friendly B&B - asl;kdj lodge. It turns out that la and la the owners are Ulysess members and not shy of a chat. Discovered his passion is Nortons.
Day 4 - On the road again, though it did take a little longer than anticipated. Headed to the top of the Snowy River Road, to start on our first bit of dirt. Planning to head to Buchan, across to Omeo over Mt Hotham to Bright. Well the road was a little slower than anticipated and the 70kms was getting to be a long ride. We decided to take a short cut across to Omeo, on dog creek road. Great dirt road, easier to ride. Onto Omeo for lunch then up Mt Hotham, much cooler and very bare. No regrowth at all after the fires, reminded me of NZ mountains not Aussie ones. Twisty up and better ones down to Bright.
Day 5 - Bright is a very busy town over Christmas, many families and tourists like ourselves. We got out of town and headed for Beechworth, to eat at the bakery and checkout the historic town. We travelled further north to Murray and followed in the stinking heat to Corryong. The carvan park pool was cold and very welcomed.
New years eve - Got up late as this was our lay day, it was a holiday you know. Spent the day wandering around the Snowy scheme power stations and floated around downtown Corryong. New years was spent at the caravan park party. Huge spit and heaps of salads.
Day 7 - More dirt today, once again we are heading to Omeo, this time via Corryong - slkadj route. Must be getting the hang of dirt roads as it didn't seem to take as long. This time we headed past Omeo down to Lakes. I can see why the road between Omeo and as;dlfkj is a favourite bike road, comfortable twisties. The road onto Cann River was long and boring, man was it boring. After Cann River upto Bombala again another favourite bike road, just loved the scenerary and the ride. Got to Bombala, but decided to push onto Cooma. The last 50kms were hard, this is the longest day I have spent on Carlo. And I was very much looking forward to getting to into Cooma and resting.
Day 8 - Last day in the mountains, plan to take the snowy road back to Tumut and then head to Wee Jasper. Why Wee Jasper, ask Jase - just had to go here. It was hot, the last of the highplains were fantastic and cool. Didn't want to leave them. Onto Wee Jasper, a bit more dirt - yay and it was very hot, did you know that Wee Jasper has caves there. Didn't get to see them, next time and one store, great icecreams. Back onto the bikes backtracked alittle and then headed out to the Hume to Gundagi. Can't believe it the trip is almost over, just the run home. Boy - Carlo was great to handle, I'm hooked and can't wait till my next trip.
Day 9 - 5 hours on the Hume, what fun, what joy. Hot, hot, hot. Discovered that the main tank can do 350kms, which is 19kms short of Glenrowan Service centre, only filled 17litres, wonder how far I can go on 22litres? Something for next time.

Thought I'd head out for a short blast before the christmas parties. Had lunch at Marysville and met a couple of club groups. Would be great to join one, something to look into. First time on Reefton Spur, man love this road heaps of cornering, and boy, does Carlo love the corners.
